The short version
- We collect your name and contact details when you call, email, or send the form, so that we can answer you about building a home.
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It does not use cookies.
- We do not sell your information, and nobody sees it except the companies that run our website and analytics, deliver the enquiry form, and handle our email.
- You can ask us what we hold, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete it and stop contacting you. Email brarhomesltd@gmail.com.
Who we are
Brar Homes Ltd. is a home builder in Calgary, Alberta. This policy covers this website, brarhomes.ca, and the enquiries that reach us through it. It does not cover other websites we link to, which have policies of their own.
We are a small company, so privacy questions go to the same place everything else does: brarhomesltd@gmail.com or (587) 224-5440. A real person reads both.
What we collect, and why
We collect three things, and only for the reasons given here. We do not ask you to create an account, and nothing on this site asks for financial details or identification numbers.
When you send the enquiry form
The form on our contact page asks for your name and your phone number, which are required, and lets you add your email address, the lot you are interested in, and anything else you want to tell us. We use what you send for one purpose: to get back to you about a lot or a build, usually by calling you.
When you press Send, what you typed goes from your browser to Web3Forms, a service that delivers website forms by email, and from there to the Brar Homes inbox. Web3Forms keeps its own copy of each submission for up to 30 days and then removes it.
When you call or email us
We keep the ordinary record of the conversation: who you are, how to reach you, and what you asked about. That is so the next person you speak to is not starting from nothing, and so we can follow up when we said we would.
When you simply read the site
The company that hosts this website records standard technical information for every visit, such as the internet address of your device, the browser you are using, which page you asked for and when. That is how a website is delivered and kept secure. We do not use it to work out who you are, and we do not connect it to an enquiry.
The map on the show home page
Our show home page includes a map from Google Maps, so that you can see where the house is before you drive out. When that part of the page loads, your browser contacts Google directly, and Google may set its own cookies and receive the internet address of your device. That happens under Google policies rather than ours.
The address is written out in plain text on the same page, so you never have to load the map to get it. If you would rather it did not load, blocking third-party cookies in your browser will usually stop it.
What this site does not do
Some of what a privacy policy has to say is about what is absent, and on this site a good deal is absent.
The typefaces are served from this website rather than from a font service, so reading these pages does not report your visit to a font provider. The photographs and the video are hosted here too. There are no advertising pixels, no social media trackers, no chat widget, and no embedded content from anywhere except the map described above. We do not run advertising on this site, and we have not connected it to any advertising network.
Consent, and how to withdraw it
Under Canadian federal law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and Alberta law, the Personal Information Protection Act, we need your consent to collect and use personal information. Most of the time that consent is plain from what you are doing. If you fill in the form to ask about a lot, you are asking us to call you back, and calling you back is what we do with it.
If we ever want to use your details for something you did not ask for, such as letting you know when a new phase is released, we will ask you first.
You can withdraw your consent whenever you like. Email us, or say so on the phone, and we will stop contacting you and remove your details. The only exception is anything the law requires us to keep, such as records tied to a contract we have signed with you.
How long we keep it
We keep an enquiry only as long as we need it: long enough to answer you, long enough to carry on the conversation while you are deciding, and long enough afterwards to meet any legal, tax or warranty obligation that applies. When none of that is true any more, we delete it. Web3Forms, which delivers the form, keeps its own copy of each submission for up to 30 days and then removes it.
We have deliberately not written a fixed number of months here, because it would be a number we could not honestly stand behind for every kind of record. If you want your details removed sooner, ask us and we will do it.
How we look after it
Enquiries are delivered by Web3Forms into ordinary business email and are read by the people at Brar Homes who need to answer them. The site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you type into the form is encrypted on its way from your browser to the form service.
No system is perfect and we will not claim ours is. What we can say is that we collect very little, we keep it in few places, and we do not hold on to it once it has served its purpose, which is the most reliable protection there is.
Seeing and correcting what we hold
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have given it to. You also have the right to have anything inaccurate corrected.
Email brarhomesltd@gmail.com or call (587) 224-5440 and tell us what you would like. There is no charge for a straightforward request. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we hand anything over, which protects you more than it protects us.
We will respond within 30 days, and we will tell you if the law allows us longer and we need it. If there is something we cannot give you, for instance because it would reveal information about someone else, we will tell you that and explain why.
Questions and complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information or your request, tell us first. It is usually the fastest way to put something right, and we would rather hear it.
You do not need our agreement to take it further. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada oversees the federal law and accepts complaints at priv.gc.ca. Because we operate in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta oversees the provincial law and accepts complaints at oipc.ab.ca.
Changes to this page
If we change what this site collects or how we use it, we will change this page and the date at the top of it. Where a change is significant and we have a way to reach you, we will tell you rather than waiting for you to notice.
